People are interesting when they list Marans in various public advertising such as CL or other online stuff, newspapers. they say they are purebred Marans but then they don't have a clue? The woman we got the young cockerels from told us they were blue Marans and when we picked them up, no way were they blue and I posted pics asking. Turns out they may be blue Birchens, or at least 2 of them may be. The third is ???

Yep. People often catch on to the fact that Marans sell, so they will do whatever breeding they like, just as long as the eggs are relatively dark, so they can sell the chicks.

No, it's a "golden" Wheaten, similar in color to golden duckwing. It is basically a Wheaten with both silver and gold genes.

A golden duckwing is a fancy name for a silver/gold split. Same thing just a different way of saying it.
No way you can be sure it is Wheaten, as you would get the same pattern if it was Duckwing or Brown.

My point is, the coloring is similar to golden duckwing.

There's very little chance he is a duckwing, as "Golden Salmon" Marans (duckwing) are very, very rare.
