So I’m starting an olive egger project and am considering using a blue copper maran roo to cover Americanas and whiting true blue hens. My question is, I will also have chocolate Orpingtons as well and was curious if I had the blue copper maran roo cover the chocolate Orp girls, wouldn’t the resulting chicks be mauve?

Do not take this as knowledge from my part. I am not an expert, just curiosity got the best of me so I did a little searching.

The one search I did keeps referring to 'khaki'

No the chicks would be blue and black with leakage.
A chocolate cock over blue hens would produce mauve and chocolate pullets and blue and black cockerels.

Ahhh thank you I completely forgot the chocolate gene is sex linked.
