Depends on the line. Where did they come from? If they're Holderread birds, I'm betting they'll start laying as soon as they reach the right age. Otherwise, dunno. My hatchery runners & their offspring always wait till the next spring, but my Holderread birds--Runners & Magpies--from April are all already laying. Dave Holderread says the line matters more than the breed--poor breeding can quickly diminish the good qualities of the breed. And the proof is in the pudding.
By the way--I
anconas. I had to cross out and rewrite my order form last fall about five times trying to decide whether to expand into magpies or anconas. Only the mail carrier's arrival stopped me from changing it again, lol.
our anconas are great! we enjoy them. there from cackle hatchwey and are 6 months old. we thought wed eat some and sell some and keep some. so far, were just feeding some .
