When will my ducklings start to have their oil gland working.

sierously? 1 hour ago and no one has replied?
the forums are so empty...

The ducklings would love a SHALLOW water dish to play around in if you haven't given them one yet, (be warned they will make a huge mess!) but they're not going to be ready to go swimming for a while yet. As for what to feed them, my ducklings enjoyed grower pellets, lettuce and shredded carrot at that age.

I can't believe it's been 22 hours and 47 minutes and duck4u hasn't posted in here thanking you for your reply.

It's so dead in here

Once they start getting in water they should start to preen and start using their oil gland, stimulating the oil gland by rubbing their heads over it causes it to start working.

So, when they are preening after a swim and are rubbing their heads along their back, that is them stimulating their oil glands? We just got ducklings a 2 weeks ago from TSC and watched them doing this a couple days ago. Wasn't sure what that was about, except marveling at how far they could twist their heads and necks around!
