Yep, the chick is a sex link. Barring means male in this case.

Most likely, red in the shoulders are usually a good indicator. But this being a sexlink the color doesn't matter much.

So this chick ended up being a pullet not a male (oops I gave it away!!) andI think that means the dad was the Bielfelder but with Cuckoo Maran mama not the Brahma?

I could be mistaken, perhaps someone can correct me, but I believe Bielefelder over Light Brahma should produce red sex linked chicks. Red females and white males. If so, your chick is a pullet.

It looked similar to a female bielfelder when it hatched (far right) and had chipmunk lines and line down the back (but also a yellow dot like the male bielfelders get )
