They got too hot. If they had watery stuff on their backs they were sweating.
Use a red heat bulb that is used in a vivarium to keep your new babes warm. 50w is fine. A nice gentle heat. Gradulally raise it over the following two - three weeks untill they're off it all together.
Feed them unmedicated chick/waterfowl feed aswell.
Medicated chick feed will kill them.
I've reared mine in a large plastic storage box lined with soft towels/papers to help them grip (stops straggle leg) rather than straw etc. It's like a baby's incubator! Keeps all the drafts out and at the right temp. Plus a teddy for company. :lol
