Wow! Have you ever seen this???

I have six 12 week old chicks in my big girl coop. One of them is my silkie who I am still trying to figure out if it is a pullet or Roo!! I went to close up the coop up on my Omelet and when I opened the top to do a head count...I saw this......Has anyone ever seen this or do I just have the sweetest chick that ever lived!!!!

Silkies like to puppy pile

I have a buff silkie hen who is a year old and never raised chicks. Her coop-mate, a bantam cochin, has a brood of 7. Momma has about decided to wean the babies and has started sleeping on the roost again--I don't think the babies even noticed she was gone cause "Auntie" is still sleeping on the ground with them, along with the silkie rooster.

Funny thing is, both the silkies had been roosting before Momma started brooding her babies on the ground, then they went back to sleeping on the ground with her.

Whether its a rooster or a hen, I bet it will be a wonderful parent.
