Hi everyone! My hen has a hernia that's open and I have been treating it for about a month now. For the love of all chicken moms and dads, has anyone mastered how to wrap the underside area to prevent poop going in?!

I have tried bandages, masks, wraps, and I need help.

Pictures, please. She's drying in my tub.

How old is your hen? Have you considered getting veterinary help.. so they could fix the hernia, since it won't get better on it's own? Do you have pictures?

Now, I'm not sure what it was exactly but it was very similar to the self stick sport wrap bandages.. and it stuck to my skin only, as a muscle support during professional guided Physical Therapy to recover from an injury.. okay with a little research, I figured it out.. it's called KT or kinesiology tape. Link is for brief description.

The other thing I might look at could be some sort of "butterfly" stitches to apply and hold the two sides of the tear closer together.

I understand, it may not be exactly what you're talking about.. but maybe it can work still! Long term skin condition may become more of an issue. Seeing a vet if your able is my strongest/preferred suggestion. :fl
