my daughter is taking bee keeping classes. It is a 7 week course and then they order the bees for her! She just bought a home and 5.5 acres in rural Virgina. But, she works out of DC.I plan to have just five pullets and perhaps one cockerel for now. Lisa still wants to move to a larger homestead, so that plus a couple of other things are keeping me from getting back in full swing. It was tough for us to say goodbye to all our chickens. They are wonderful fowl. We had 80+ at one point last year.
We have three bee nucs on order, so we will start raising bees soon. It was Lisa's idea to get into the bees, but it looks like I will bee the bee man...lol Actually, we're all looking forward to the bees. Wish we lived closer to you and Randy, so our bees could tap into that sourwood nectar flow in late summer. That's my favorite honey by far. If you ever decide to raise bees, you're in the perfect location for it.
It’s really went down hill since thenMy daughter used to be the Park Ranger at Hartwell State Park before they made it just a day Park!
Yes, I heard the same thing. All the parks who have had the managers removed have suffered. Lots of drugs, litter, damage, etc going on when nobody is there to keep it in check. It’s really went down hill since then
Great pics! I didn't know you have a farm page. I just liked it. (Katherine Hosmer) Looking forward to next Saturday. The first mushroom day went well. The rain held off and we got a lot of work done around the place. We're on schedule to do more next weekend weather permitting.

And we'll have bunnies ready for adoption in a couple of weeks.
That's great @Mylied . I anxious to get started. None of our fruit trees have bloomed yet. Peach tree went straight to leaf, and we're still waiting to see what the pear trees will do.I have a hive @brucifer . It takes some patience to get through that first year without taking honey. I so wanted to steal some. I finally get to harvest this year. I have to get another super to put on it. They are full up. I see them all over the yard since the weathers been good, getting water and doing their job on the fruit trees.
