Young rooster behavior

I have a young (25 wek old) plymouth barred rock. He mates with a plastic container. The stands on top, stamps his feet tucks his tail doeas a shake a shake dipping his tail a few times and jumps off. Its definetly a mating....anyone ever seen this.
