Goodness it's just hit me how stressful and brave this was to do.
I have so much anxiety to get through tomorrow...

But am here. Way north. 250 miles away from my Dougie and Sprightly...

I bought two plush puffins on the way, and they're now named Dougie and Sprightly and I feel 1% better.

If anyone's wondering, this isn't just a holiday for funsies, I'm supposed to be moving up here eventually and I haven't actually viewed the location or anything yet. I need to meet people and get comfortable around here. But it's still a holiday with some looking at great natural sights- like waterfalls!

It's tough being away from pets

Especially when there's many, or when their health can go downhill
But I'm lucky I have family to look after them, and don't have to trust a stranger

speaking of pet health, it's been a rough few weeks in house calicocows. knish (guinea pig) needs a spay; pancake (quail) has bumblefoot on top of her many, many other health issues, and is currently living in the house; and latke (other guinea pig) needs an exam from the new vet because i like them way better and i suspect her reproductive issues have worsened and that she also needs a spay. back in february, it was concluded that latke has lung cancer due to cloudiness in them on xray that didn't respond to antibiotics. that may make her unsuitable for anesthesia and therefore a spay... hoping for the best. and for some people to hire me for petsitting!

I got a nice surprise when I went out to refill the waters.
The black hen in background has the first chick.
The second hen is still in the nest with the second chick.
I'm waiting to see if there's more.
I'm happy to see little Scouts running around!!!

The second hen has 4 chicks in total plus 4 more eggs that are still going. I'll be checking on them throughout the day to make sure nothing happens.
I can hear chirps from 2 of the eggs.
Once all the hatching is done, I'll let you know how many hatched in total

After all the chicks are hatched and dried, I'll be posting photos of all of them plus photos of the hens to see if you all can determine who might be the mama of who.
Doesn't matter to me but I think it would be fun to guess

I have a big problem... I can't stop buying succulents and cactus! I stopped at my local nursery and was disappointed they didn't have much of anything in the way of succulents and no cactus. So I came home and got on the Etsy site to see when my Lithops will be shipped and I stopped by a page that ships from California that had all kinds of interesting cactus! They had a package deal of 5 cactus. Somehow it got in my cart and I ordered it!!

1 each of, Eves Pin Cactus, Rat Tail Cactus, Pinecone Cactus, Lady Fingers Cactus and a White Angel Wing Bunny Ear Cactus. I have to stop, I don't know where I'm going to put all these plants come winter, my back shelf is not that big!
