Our self-blue bantam cochin brothers are still here. I was hoping to sell them, but now I'd like to just give them to someone. Anyone interested in one or both? I'm in GR, but can travel an hour.
Poppy and Triscut are self-blue bantam cochin fellas who hatched on May 19. Self-blue is a tricky color to find, and would be great for any breeding project. I'm in Grand Rapids, and these guys are $15 each or both for $20.
In other news, all is going well in the coop. Our du'ccle is broody...
Hello folks! I got logged out and had trouble getting back in. When I posted last our broody was sitting on 5 fertile self blue bantam Cochin eggs. Here they are today- two months later.
We are keeping a pullet, and selling the other 4. We never expected all 5 to hatch! If anyone is...
Today was day 19 for our fertile eggs under a broody. This is our first time, and I know now that I could never hatch with an incubator. I'd be a nervous Nelly. I'm hoping to see some pips tomorrow, and some sweet little self blue bantam cochin chicks on Tuesday.
I found a woman close to me who breeds self blue bantam cochins. Yesterday I put 5 fertile eggs under a broody. This is our first time hatching. Fingers crossed the eggs develop and Alice is a good mama.
I am just stopping in to say hi. This is our first spring in 3 years with no chicks in the basement. Our flock of 5 is doing well. I don't have much to say.
Last winter was just the worst. This year's winter has not been very kind, though. Because November brought so much snow, it seems that this winter is creeping by. Hang in there, friends. Spring training starts in Florida soon, and under all of the snow and ice, our bulbs are getting their...
Hi folks. I've been absent for a few months, and have been reading along for a week or so. I just didn't have anything to say. But I do now. Our Easter Egger, Mabel finally laid her first egg yesterday. She hatched last February or March, so almost a full year old. I figured she started...
Hi folks, I'm just peeking in here for a minute. If anyone in the Madison Heights area is missing a Muscovy, a friend spotted it near 12 Mile and John R.
@Brennigan , I'm sorry. I don't have answers about the yellow stuff, or the eggs, just sympathy for your loss.
When we started with chickens we bought 3 chicks. Our orpington ended up being a boy, and went to a farm. Then we had 2 hens until the next spring when we got 3 more chicks. If you...
It seems like dosing my ladies was what at least one of them needed. I got my first egg in three weeks yesterday. It might just be coincidence, and not the meds, but I'm happy.
