He has a heat lamp and indoor roosting area to get away from cold. His comb is swollen to the point he can not eat or drink. Just noticed today he is in the coop during the day. He wanted to eat but comb got in way. Will this go away cause it's frost bite or something else going on? Surprised...

Had to cull the two chicks since they can not walk and flop around if we dont prop them up. Now I have a third baby doing the same thing. North 40 says their chicks are vaccinated but not sure about that. My chicks that I hatched are all good but now I am worried the store bought ones did not...

Thanks. Yes have all that and doing the hobbles as well as propping them up. They, how her sister too, are too far gone I am afraid.

That was a great tip. Thank you. We did all the hip dislocation stuff and she reacted normal but nothing really happened. I suppose she needs rest?

Would a dislocated hip move inits joint smoothly?

She is an Araucanian type. If her hip was dislocated would her legs move in her joint sockets smoothly? She does look like she is too big for her legs doesn't she? She has a sister we will compare her to and maybe take a picture and post it.

Do you think when they have a slipped tendon their toes curl? I am not sure that is what I have now if that is the case.

I put her in a sling and now have her wrapped - legs together because all she does is sit now. She eats, drinks and poops all the time. should she be in a sling chair more often I wonder?

thanks. I think the mom may have stepped on her because it is new and she is an older chick that did not display this until now. trying lots of things but will need to get supplements at the store today. we felt her legs for hours last night massaging and trying to see where the pain was...
