    Please help!

Finally I get to sit down and respond, though it's quite late, but it's been one of those crazy busy days. Well, the Wyandotte whose prolapse went back in and stayed in, laid an egg a couple of hours later. She was being checked on again and just happened to lay the egg then. No repeat...

    Please help!

Thank you about my RIR. We really miss her. No change in feed and yep, they always have calcium available and I've not seen any oversized eggs. I did all I could think of to keep them from being bored, but I guess a week in the coop was just too much for them, as, like I said, they've never...

    Please help!

It iced over here, then snowed, then rained and the temps dropped, so more ice. We did all we could to keep the canopy that covers our run clear, but the load was just too much for it (hubby says it was suppose to be able to hold more of a load than that...guess the manufacturers were wrong)...

Little late chiming in here, but I'm in western KY and was wondering where you got your birds? They seem like a breed that would mesh with my family wonderfully. Had to laugh over what you said about KY humidity, boy you hit the nail on the head with that one, lol!

BLR bantam Wyandottes from Purely Poultry

I've ordered their bantam Wyandottes before...have two blues and one Columbian (sold the rest, as I wanted to try out other breeds too). The Columbian's hackle markings were kinda bad, but it's to be expected in hatchery birds. She molted and the markings came back in MUCH better, though they...

    Hen crowing

Lol, she crows pretty good for a hen. I guess you're right, I'll just have to wait and see. It's good to know that your hens eventually stopped, so I have hope for her. Like I said though, if it gets to be an issue with the neighbors (we all live practically on top of each other) or if she...

    Hen crowing

I have a young d'Uccle hen who is in quarantine right now (she's new) who crows. I know it's a hen 'cause well one, she looks like a hen and two, she's in her own cage and lays eggs, lol! I cannot have roos where I'm at, so, of course, I can't have a crowing hen either. Do you think when...

    Kentucky people

Anybody know of anyone with white Wyandotte bantams and/or Faverolles bantams in the Marshall county or surrounding areas? I'm hoping to get some in the spring. I can't have any roos, so am looking for pullets. Thanks!

    Lice...need some advice

Thank you! Think I'll try the pantyhose method or I may sprinkle it on, if I can find something around here to do that with....seems like it would be easier on them and I can better control where it goes. The pillow case method, I think, would be too much of a pain. I take it that the...

    Lice...need some advice

Read up on here different methods of getting rid of lice, but didn't know what my local co-op carried. Gave them a call and they suggested some products (some of them are chicken owners), so I went down there and picked them up. I got Viper Insect Dust and Permectrin 2 to treat their bodies...

Adding quarentined birds to an existin flock

So glad you asked this question. Going to be doing this soon myself. Hubby is almost done with building a much larger coop. We're going to put the old coop at the other end, but first are going to clean it out well. Hubby did not waterproof the nest box on the old coop and used that type...

    What is she doing?

That's what I was wondering, if she was just doing it for comfort. It's just the two of them in that particular crate, which I'm using as a brooder, though. And they can't see us when they're doing it 'cause their poofy heads block their vision (I don't trust cutting their feathers back just...

    What is she doing?

My new birds are in quarantine right now and quarantine time is up (it's been well over a month...they did get Coccidiosis [I suspect from where they came from], which I treated them for, so the quarantine was extended...they're all okay now [they're in brooders]). Hubby is making a new coop...

    best bird greens ???

I'm gonna try pumpkins again this yr...only I'm gonna start with a small one unlike last year's big one. I say this because they didn't seem to care much for the one I gave them last yr. They were young then...oh, about 6-7 mos. Hopefully, now that they're older, they'll like it this time...
