I have several young sebright cockerels that I am looking to get rid of. Very sweet birds with nice coloring and conformation. I am only getting rid of these birds because I am slowly starting to end my sebright breeding program. This a quite a steal and I really hope someone will grab them...
I am looking in to getting a new breed of chickens for a breeding project. I fell in love with rosecombs and started looking for somewhere to buy some for next year. As I was looking I saw a rosecomb leghorn that looked exactly like the rosecombs I had been looking at. So my possibly dumb...
Hi! I was hoping someone would have information about poultry auctions/breeders in northern California, mainly Sacramento or farther north. I am looking mainly for Black tailed buff japanese bantams. I am hoping to find a breeding pair and thought that an auction or breeder would be the best...
I think the eggs will be fine to eat. You can test them though by putting them in a bowl/glass of water. If they sink are hang out around the middle of the glass they are fine... if they float then they aren't any good to eat. As for getting them to lay in the boxes, most of my pullets don't...
I add my chicks really early, I have them living with the adults as soon as they are fully feathered so around 6 weeks usually. For the most part they learn to stay away from the adults really quick and make a kiddie flock with their own pecking order. My current babies are about the same age...
Good luck! I think the temp jump isn't good but since one thermometer read ok I think you will be fine. I have a broody hen that stole eggs while I was on vacation and the older ones are going to hatch around the same time as yours so we will just have sit and wait together!
Have the young chickens been around the flock at all? They might not be afraid of the dark but of the other chickens. If they have been with the adult flock and are still scared, you might just try letting them go to bed with the flock when everyone goes to bed naturally. I know my hens are all...
Yeeaaaa! There might still be hope! I wasn't expecting to get a good colored bird from a hatchery but put of curiosity what is considered "good" coloring on a delaware?
Ok, they are all hatchery so I wouldn't be surprised if it is poor coloring but I was worried by the amour of white in the SLW wings. I am hoping that the delaware is a dominate pullet but I have never had one before so I'm stumped.
I have three chicks that I picked up at our local feed store. They where all sexed as female but I am wondering about one of the delawares and the wyandotte. They are about 10 week sold.
I am worried about the delaware no the left...
Thanks!!!
I am not sure about breeds...the first one looks like a black breasted red something but they all look an awful lot like cockerels. I am seeing a lot of awfully red combs.
