Aaaw, those remind me so much of the romanian/russian painted eggs the family of my father always made for easter. I think it is done with wax, protecting the lighter colour you want to keep before putting the egg in the next darker colour if I remember right. Have to look it up, these pics...

    Water Glassing: Egg Preservation Experiment!

I heard liquid glass/liquor silicium is used in a similiar way and causes less change of taste. And it also does harden the shell instead of destabilizing it. Anyone got any experience with that? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_silicate#Food_preservation

    TSC bedding poisoned chicks

Maybe coffee grounds are not a problem for adult chicken, but babies...and it has natural pest repelling abilities... This means, coffein and similiar stuff, because the plant puts it in there to repell pests. Caffein poisoning is high heart/breathing rate. Not wanting to eat because you feel...

    Hens & Rabbits

Okay we had rabbits and ducks, and I can't speak on chickens, but rabbits tend to be rather..rabbid(pun). I have seen rabbits molesting full grown hens, and I have seen them kill other animals they did not like when they were in too close of a space. Rats who came into the same enclosure did...

Hands down, what is a chickens FAVORITE food/treat/scraps?

Also if your chicken needs meds, wrapping it in ground meat is a sure way to make it get eaten without fuss. At least in my experience. Fake cheese slices, you know the kind, also work to wrap meds and have them eaten in one piece.

HOW TO FEED YOUR CHICKENS if there is no scratch or pellets?

Have you tried using an old big barrel or several as a kind of pond filter/airater? Basically fill it with zeolithe/claypebbles, connect two(or more) barrels with a pipe in the upper third of the barrel and let the pump pump water into the first barrel and filter it, until it overruns into the...

    I need help...

Have you felt her belly, because you can feel a bound egg. Smelly poop sounds more like an infection, which can affect the egg factory aka no egg/egg with soft shell/inflammation that is painful. infrared light does help to relax the muscles and release a bound egg. Do you have a heat lamp you...

One reason I can't let my birds free range...

Lifestock protection dogs help with both. Saw some articles about chicken farmers who had those big white dogs in pasture with the chickens who kept watching ground and sky for predators. But just for birds of prey, corvidae are awesome in keeping them away. They do warning calls, and the...

Why am I getting these misshapen eggs consistently?

Infection with worms can cause deformed eggs. Not just intestinal worms, but also liver and lung worms also. Partly because of the low brow inflammation this causes in the bird's body, but also because the worms steal nutrients/cause malabsorption. Infections of the liver also will cause...

What breeds do they offer? That could make the guessing easier. Otherwise I would say, white layer hybrid, male.

    Bloody head

Is the injured chicken also broody and tried to get in the nest box for that? Bcs sometimes two chickens want the same nest box and then... But yeah, that chicken needs to be kept away from the others or they might see the wound as a tasty snack. Maybe offer her a nest with a few eggs and see if...

Adding heat sinks\dummy eggs to incubator

If you can not get your own, store bought is fine :gig So yeah,. you can even use a bit of fine sand to weigh out how much a natural egg would be, mixed with the plaster and fill the shell, so if you wanna use it for hens, they will not get suspicious because of a weight difference. Plaster...

    Post Egg Paralysis in pigeon

Like, you know pigeons are basically the Spartans (or should I say Klingons)of fowl? Where they fight each other to prove they are strong enough to ward of stranger pigeons from the nest. And even when mated it will happen that they fight. Pigeons can be the cuddliest partners ever, but before...
