I just lost 6 beautiful hens to what I’m guessing is a chicken hawk, as one tried to get my bird through the mesh the other day. Only 2 little tufts of under feathers seen. Only One hen was tucked up in nesting box when we got home, just can’t believe they took 6 full grown with such minimal...

I’m not sure about the parents, but we lost 4 in shell to different things, I agree maybe a bit too much inbreeding is happening... yes:( it’s already hard decision!

These chicks/eggs are the first lot we’ve got (from a friend) that have had so many issues, it’s 😔 sad, I hope this one will be okay but I think it might have other issues.

Yes I‘m worried about that, it has one little friend who snuggles it, but I can’t seperate at night as I only have one heat lamp and it’s way to cold, thanks for your reply:)

So this chick is 2 days old, I only noticed today that it was missing a toe, but also its all twisted and can’t walk on it properly, which is where I’m not sure if it was born like that or it got an injury somehow.. is there anything I can do to help it? It’s currently getting a bit of a callous...

Our first few barnevelders have hatched😁

It never fluffed up or was looking for food, or cheeped very much, and it still had the clicking when breathing, which I’m not sure if its meant to still have after a day of being hatched

Not sure exactly but I think he was a pacific black duck, so sad as he seemed to be doing so well:(

It didn’t make it :( I had to leave it for 4 hours and in that time it passed. Something must’ve been going on that didnt make it compatible with life..

Well poor ducky didn’t make it, the yolk had fully absorbed, but something else mustve been going on, :(
