    Feathers Flew

Hello All! Last night feathers flew in an instant. I had my dog on a leash and went to walk him, the duck which had been swimming just a moment before, decided to approach. All I saw were feathers in an instant she was swimming. She didn’t let me near her and I waited patiently for hours until...

Out of curiosity, if she did visit with a Drake, wouldn’t the drake come visit her egg laying spot or at least visit her? I thought they stayed together one they mated? 🙏

Thank you! I don't want her to have babies. She doesn’t have a boyfriend or any friends that’s why she befriended me. I don’t know how to know if the eggs are fertile or how don’t have any control of her laying? I plan on simply removing eggs if she lays them. Yes she is very young, her...

    The Lone Duck

Thanks! She laid another this morning. She’s free to go, some days she goes to the lake behind my fence line other days she just stays here in my yard. She eats duck pellets, unfrozen-frozen corn, some oats sprinkled in and smashed garbanzo beans…as well as whatever she forages for in the yard...

    The Lone Duck

Hello Again! So as Faith was getting ready to go to bed, I peeked before I closed the side hatch, and there was an egg. Clearly it’s a she! Now, I feel totally terrible as I removed the egg that was right by the side door about an inch from sliding out and down. Is she mad at me for taking it...

Here’s Faith…in case it helps determine male or female. Here’s where it sleeps at night. It’s great that it doesn’t poop in there. Any advice on if this enclosure is ok?

I was holding my dogs harness leash and the duck was standing on the table, he kept and was able to get a mouthful of feathers, thank goodness only feathers! Please tall me how you’re training your dogs, as mine even injured and being held onto was able to attack. It’s a Boykin spaniel…so is his...

    The Lone Duck

The behavior is male, the way it approaches and groans loudly…it’s pecking…shoe biting…knocking on the door and seeming fearlessness seem more like male traits. But idk anything about them except the males in the lake are all nearly twice the size of the females. The females generally get along…...

I can’t tell once it groomed itself. Didn’t let me pet its back like it usually likes. It ate well and I just put it in the coop.

Hello all! I live on a lakE where Muscovy flocks live. A few weeks ago one, young and new to the area appeared. He’s harassed by male and females. He flew over the fence and came to me for affection one afternoon and went into my dog cage during a storm. I gave him water and soon as the storm...
