    Thanks everybody - it's nice to get some more guesses. I'm adding her to replace a rooster I re-homed and love the reassurance. She's a nice mottled orpington that the breeder said didn't meet "perfect" standard

    How did this work out in the long run? I just realized I have a young rooster and wonder if I should try fitting a sock on him BEFORE I suspect he will start crowing. Cant keep him in my neighborhood if neighbors hear him - and we all live close together

    wow did this continue to work? I have a young rooster not crowing yet, and can't keep him if the neighbors hear him. Maybe should get ready and used to the sock ahead of time

    Not supposed to own roosters in my town and yards are small. Do you think those anti crow collars are inhumane? As a singer by trade it's hard for me to choke off even an animal's voice. Would you advise I go seeking out farms that might take him?
