Thank you so much for your help and advice. They're here! First hatched on Sunday, last hatched late Wednesday night. I assisted them all by chipping off outer shell once I saw the veins recede and once the bill chewing motion stopped. All fluffy, healthy, and happy! All 6 eggs that went into...
Home safe and the eggs are rocking around. One has internally pipped but I'm not sure what I'm looking at here. It is not opening and closing so I do not think it is a bill. Any chance it's malpositioned? I've set an alarm for 11hrs for now to make a safety hole (will be 18hrs after I first...
Thank you both so much for your recommendations! I have hatched call ducks twice in the past, and am not opposed to helping when I see a duckling in trouble. The tough part is always knowing when to step in and when to wait. I will read over the article and update when something changes.
Came back to check on the eggs this morning, 3/6 are visibly pushing on the membrane but no one has pierced the membrane yet. The eggs are currently at work where I will not have access over the weekend. Based on your expertise, should I risk taking the incubator home? Home is about a 15 minute...
sweet mama looks so proud! Congratulations, they're adorable! Not sure what colour they'll be as I purchased the eggs from a farm nearby. Their females are Silver, Pastel, Snowy and their males are Blue and Snowy.
Hello community!
I'm on day 22 of incubating Call duck eggs. Humidity has been kept between 40-50%, temperature steady, and automatic turner engaged.
Today when I candelled the eggs, I noticed one airsac has grown substantially within the last 2 days (see my pencil marks) and it looks as if...
Appleyard externally popped last night but at the wrong end. I'm keeping a close eye on him but I'm letting him do his thing (for now). Fingers crossed that he sorts it out!
They're here!
Totally unassisted hatched 2 call ducks, 1 Peking, and 1 buff.
Were still waiting on an appleyard to start hatching but for now we're soaking up the baby cuddles.
Good morning hatching friends! I hope to join your excitement with hatching next week. Were on day 22. Today I noticed a smell coming from the incubator. I candled the eggs and i thing I found the culprit. I'm attaching 2 pictures, can you confirm that it's a quitter?
Thanks so much looking...
Morning hatching friends! I handled some eggs today as the incubator was smelling a bit off. I think I found the culprit. Does this look like a quitter to you?
Same egg, 2 angles.
I am getting geared up to set 12 little duck eggs. a Khaki, an appleyard, 4 peking, 3 buff, and 3 call. Testing out our new incubator (Brinsea mini advanced 2) along with a trusty oldie.
Remind me, duck eggs start hatching on day 28 or are expected to be fully hatched on day 28?
Thank you and...
