My hens won't eat anything other than regular feed

Hi, I got my first chickens from a breeder this spring and apparently they had never eaten anything other than pellets/crumbles. I let them go free range hoping they'd eat insects but they refused. Slowly over a few months I trained them by putting lettuce in their feeder. I put bugs in their...

Sudden snowstorm coming. Will the quail be fine?

Yes, precipitation is great but I'm sad for the gardens and bugs. I hope your birds do fine! The quail are now in my bathtub, ha ha. My kids love our "petting zoo."

Sudden snowstorm coming. Will the quail be fine?

Yes. I'll retrieve them. The chickens seem happy to free range.

Sudden snowstorm coming. Will the quail be fine?

Hi! We live in the Front Range of Colorado and it's been in the nineties during the day and low sixties at night. Tonight we have a crazy winter storm coming and it'll start snowing and be around freezing in the morning. I have two coturnix quail in a cage on the ground under my back porch...

Keeping the neighbor's chickens out of my yard

As someone mentioned above, the police aren't the right authority to notify. It'd be a matter of calling your city office. You could also keep it anonymous. You wouldn't even have to say they're going in your yard. Just that this address is in violation of the code. Good luck.

    What breeds lay pink eggs?

Our Salmon Faverolle just died and I'm sooo sad because she laid the most beautiful pink eggs. Check out Barred Plymouth Rock as well.

Convince dad to put hardwire cloth on the chicken’s run instead if chicken wire.

Hi, jumping in to ask if anyone has advice about the chicken run my husband and I are building for our three hens. We have a small suburban backyard so it is right underneath our back porch. We used 1/2“ hardware cloth for the bottom perimeter (buried six inches down) and it goes two feet high...

RIR with white ears and white eggs???

That's so interesting! I have so many questions 😆 What do you mean by "game?" How do you train a chicken to pose? And what kind of research? 😀

RIR with white ears and white eggs???

I bought two pullets from a local feed store (called Wardles). The hens had just arrived from the breeder and I was lucky I snapped them up, since they sell out so quick. They had them labeled as "laying hens" but it took two months before they started laying.

RIR with white ears and white eggs???

Yeah, it's like she has no comb. 🤷🏽‍♀️ I guess she will be well-suited to our cold winters then.

RIR with white ears and white eggs???

Hi! I bought my first chickens this spring (two hens and one is a Salmon Faverolle). I was told this hen was a Rhode Island Red, but when she started laying we were surprised to find white eggs. Also I just noticed her white earlobes. Did I end up with some kind of mutt? Can anyone tell? Thanks...
