Chickens are amazing at healing, I had a friend whose hen had been picked up by a hawk then dropped and she survived! One of mine got attacked by a rat and her head was almost falling off, we almost euthanized her but she was still willing to eat and drink so we gave her a chance. She made a...
Ok I never know how to start threads off:idunno so I'm just going to just jump into my question. How would I start clicker training? I have a 13 1/2 week old Belgian D'anvers pullet, she's very friendly and runs over whenever I come to the coop. I would like to try to clicker train her, I've...
Thank you! 2 of our hens showed up this morning alive but very scared and short a lot of feathers. Unfortunately this means no more free run for them. We have a large pen but it's just not the same as running around the whole property. It'll take some getting used to as they had been free run...
Well I don't know how to start this... But my free range layer flock has been attacked, coyotes took 7/13 of our hens, including Mazie a hen who's head was nearly ripped off by a mink and she couldn't lift her head but she looked better and better, she survived. Mazie was a very special hen and...

I have a 7 month old Belgian D'anvers cockerel that I've had for about a month. He is healthy, just he acts a bit odd. He has poor judgment when he pecks at food and he falls on his face regularly or into the water dish. He's eating, drinking, pooping and attacking normally he's just really...
Hi! I went to my local feed store yesterday and I know they used to sell poultry nipple waterers but I went and they didn't:(. Anyway my mom suggested that I get a small hamster waterer and see if that would work. My question is~ is there any difference between a small animal and a nipple...
Hi! I went to give my Belgian d'anvers water and noticed one of the hens (Lucy) was standing quietly in the back while the other hens ran up to see what I was doing and get a drink. I picked her up and her crop was very hard and slightly enlarged. Then what really freaked me out was she was...
