The hens have been laying for a week or so... the eggs are good - thick shells, nice shapes, colors (brownish, tanish, sometimes pinkish), yolks are nice dark yellow, whites are nice and thick.... I've been using them for cooking - pies etc.... but today we had an even dozen and my son LOVES...

We are doing bare basics and everything is going very well.... No lights, no heat... we bring out a warm bucket of water in the morning and replace it mid day and check again later..... good ventilation, no condensation on windows etc...and our girls are doing fine! We are in NH near mountains...

We should be able to delete posts??? is there a way to do this? I posted this earlier and now the problem resolved itself, but i saw no way of removing the post...

I looked up egg bound....and she actually didn't behave this way until today... 3 days ago, she was fine, did plop down once and look as if she was going to lay... but didn't....was fine yesterday...today was in the nesting box this morning...did not lay, but acted ok... within 2 hours was...

oh! good question! i forgot to add that... she is 22 weeks old now.... no eggs from any of our birds, but we got them late enough that i read it could be Jan before we see anything...
