Wow thank you everyone! She does look like a Dixie Rainbow! Never heard of that breed.

Any idea on what breed this is? She did have a few black feathers on her hind end but another chicken plucked them out.

Wondering if this 4 month old barred rock mix is a hen or rooster. We are leaning more towards rooster but did have a chicken with similar traits turn out to be a hen. There has been no crowing.

Wow thank you for all your information. We can get some pretty cold days/nights that can get below 0'F but usually doesn't stay that cold for to long. I keep lots of bedding (wood chips) in with the chickens. I'm hoping that's keeping them warm enough.

I know people who have more than one rooster and don't seem to have any issues. They seem to have a pecking order just like the hens. I think you just have to watch out for the roosters getting to aggressive with each other.

Well we don't have any pullets just a hen. They are bonded quite nicely now.
