If you use a water heater thermostat, make sure you keep it near/about 3 inches from the light. This helps keep the temp regulated. It's fine to use. A wafer thermostat is better, but I have seen plenty of incubators with the water heater thermostat that were very successful, and stayed rather...
It's up to you on this one. I would. Here's a Answers.com suggestion, which I do nearly the same technique myself when worst comes to worst:

Really, humidity depends on where you live. Has a lot to do with sea level, etc.
My best solution has always been: 60-65% for the first 18 days, 80-85% for the last 3 days.
Best way to really know is to watch the air sac. Make sure it's losing just enough each time you candle them.
Here's a...
It's all good! Congrats on the pips!
This is normally caused by the temp being higher (101 at egg level). Nothing wrong with it. After this batch, try to calibrate your thermometer of course for future hatches.
That's fine. You can do that. If you have to open your bator, try to close it back up quickly. Some people use a spray bottle and spray a mist in the bator before they shut it, which helps keep the humidity level.
gogo10131,
Do you only have one humidity meter in your bator? Might try to calibrate the one(s) you're using now. Adding a second if you only have one will also help.
Any time you use a digital meter, they can vary during different readings. For example, if it's at 10%, it could be off by 5...
Sorry no pictures yet, my son hasn't been able to get the camera to work. At this time, it looks like I wont have any pictures up until next time I advertise these. I do apologize for that. This batch will have to go just on trust. These birds are excellent, very pretty and have a great stance...
I'm not able to post any pictures due to the fact I'm on vacation at this time, and wont be back until Sunday. My son is home with the birds now taking care of them.
The roosters I have are very colorful. They are quiet, and friendly. I wash my birds about 2 times a year, due to the fact that I...
I'm not at the location to take pictures until Monday. I'm sorry. They are look alike, and look just like the ones you see online. They are very beautiful birds of course. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll upload pictures next time I advertise them.

Fertility has been excellent. My last few hatches have been over 90%. I've been very pleased. I will wrap the...
How about their eyes, are they seem to be watery? Might be a respiratory infection. I would contact the store where you purchased them, and ask them if any of their other customers have experienced this. They may be able to get you some new chicks to replace these ones.
You'll need to clean...
My experience has always been pecking at the toes. Usually a larger breed does that to them. I always put my bantams in different brooders now, which has stopped that from happening. (Of course, this was about 10 years ago when all of this happened).
