    Duck vent problem--can't poop

I've been noticing that one of my Indian Runners has been rocking back and forth sometimes, seeming like something is wrong. When I've picked her up, everything has looked normal. However, on closer inspection last night, I noticed that she has some poop build-up on her vent. Her stomach felt...

    Duck vent problems

One of my female ducks has a problem and I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. This female has had issues with egg binding and severe prolapse in the past (she's had her entire uterus come out of her body twice last summer, but I was able to treat it with help from a vet and some Baytril...

    abscess on chicken's face

I'm really not sure what might have happened. I was wondering if a snake or bee got her. Or if a rat bit her--we have tons of rats. I hadn't thought about a tick bite. Would it have been on that spot? I just got back in the country about 24 hours ago and just found out about this once I got...

    abscess on chicken's face

Hi. I noticed that there is an abscess growing on my chicken's face right near her mouth above her wattle. It started on Friday and seems to be getting bigger. My parents have been taking care of my flock while I was out of the country the past two weeks, and they started putting electrolytes in...

    *~*Runner Duck Club*~*

I hate I didn't see this until now. It looks like you had some good advice from some members though. I hope this turned out well for you. We had our first duck to look like this when she prolapsed and there was an egg inside. We had no idea what to do and she didn't make it. Since then, we've...

Sick duck - won't eat and dropping weight--help

Thanks. I thought I had mentioned her leg problems too but I see now that I didn't. My ducks occasionally do have problems with their legs but the problems usually show and then go away for a while. So I didnt really link the two problems. She had started limping some for a couple of days before...

Sick duck - won't eat and dropping weight--help

Quick update: my duck here passed away a few days after this initial post. Then the rest of the flock started showing similar symptoms. (We have 18 other ducks). I found out that my flock had contracted botulism from some puddles of standing water, and some of them started losing muscle control...

Khaki Campbell and Welsh Harlequin drakes need good homes

Hi. I'm looking for homes for one or some of my drakes. (We have seven total but need to rehome up to five of them if we can find good homes for them. I would like for them to have a safe place to live where they can be happy.) They don't all have to go to the same place. Due to previous...

Sick duck - won't eat and dropping weight--help

Hi. Thanks, everyone. I wish I could day she's doing much better, but it's a slow process. I got her to eat a little mix of yogurt and crushed pellets today though she was reluctant to do it and I think she only ate it for the scratch I threw on top. She also ate a little scratch by itself. I...

Sick duck - won't eat and dropping weight--help

I tried to check her throat but I can't see past her tongue. What would I do for treatment of a foreign object if that's what it is?

Sick duck - won't eat and dropping weight--help

Your advice is very helpful. I have given my ducks yogurt before and it never gave them diarrhea. Ducks can have it and it is good for them to have for the probiotics. I have some plain yogurt and she has eaten some of it, especially if I put some small treats in it. Thanks.

Sick duck - won't eat and dropping weight--help

My duck flock has been having issues lately and I think some of the problems may be due to this flip flop weather we have had lately. I got Baytril from my vet when it seemed that my flock wasn't eating as well as they usually do, and I had a couple of girls who had been egg bound. The Baytril...
