Not sure where you got your chicks, but I'm afraid you shouldn't expect these babies to have lacing. If they are Wyandottes, they definitely have had barring added to their bloodline at some point. It also looks like they have single combs, which would indicate they may not be Wyandottes at all...

It's really hard to tell from the photos, but here's my opinion. Since #1 only gives a head shot and a little of the body I have very little feather development to help; I can't really judge by the comb, either, because being a SC it is possible for it to be a pullet- SC tend to enlarge more...

I ordered 10 of Holistic Pastures Silver Double Laced Barnevelder eggs off eBay. No idea if they came from good stock or not, because not a single one hatched or even began to develop. When I cracked them open at 22 days they were all clear and looked like they may not even have been fertilized...

Some of mine (various breeds) have started at 2 months, while others seem content to wait. Oddly enough, some of my current GLW started a couple months ago, while my SLW of the same age haven't started yet. They are all 5 mths at this time. All cockerels are individuals!

I can't see his comb for verification, but coloration definitely looks like a cockerel. Sorry....

It looks like my hatchery cockerels. Don't be fooled by a lack of "rooster behavior"; 12 weeks is still really young. Mine are 5 mths old, and still not crowing- but they are definitely cockerels.

Has anyone used this method for determining if your flock will be high or low production? I just finished reading "The Call of the Hen" online, and found it fascinating. I plan to implement it into my breeding program right away. The great part is, using this method I can work on egg production...
