The Elizabeth duck is a light breed developed in NSW Australia. They were originally bred in the Merrylands in 1972 by Mr Lance Ruting. The breed was developed to be quick growing, small and excellent for meat. The parents of the breed were farmyard ducks, with Rouen Clair’s possibly being apart of the breed.
Elizabeth’s are currently only in Australia, and they are recognised in the Australian Poultry Standards 2nd Edition. If you would like to read up more on the breed standards look up Open Poultry Standards.
