I recently did the oval egg shape experiment with seven eggs. I ended up with four roos and three pullets. I don't think the oval egg shape is reliable to produce all pullets.
I am going to incubate some eggs in February. The eggs will come from good laying hens of large brown eggs. Trying to get an idea of how much to sell the chicks for as barnyard straight run. The hens are RIR's, RIW's, New Hampshire Red's, and Golden Sex Links crossed with either a RIR, or...
I tried this with seven eggs a few weeks ago. Could be a coincidence but all seven turned out to be pullets. Will be following this method from now on.
They are regular farm chickens. Producers of nice brown eggs which people where I live seem to prefer. Nothing exotic that lays blue or green eggs. There is a big market here. People are wanting chickens for eggs and for eating.
I want to hatch and sell chicks, but don't do not know what to charge for them. They are a barnyard mixer of RIR, RIW, and Golden Sex Links. Eggs will come from our excellent laying hens. Would sell them around 2 weeks old so they would have a good start.
Would probably be sold as straight run.
My incubator is on day 20. I am hearing some peeping inside the incubator. Hope I have a good hatch and hope you do too. I will post pics when it happens
