I got two eggs again today, after Peek took a few days off, and Poke took nearly a week off. Apparently having a new duck house filled with obnoxious youngsters isn't good for laying eggs. The "little" ducks are finally leaving them alone, and they've built a little nest in the corner of the new...
Mine are laying every day still. Poke takes the occasional day off, but Peek is a laying machine. She hasn't missed a day. She has also decided that she's going to go back into the duck house to lay, since I keep finding her eggs everywhere she tries to hide them in the run. At least in the duck...
Peek is starting to hide her eggs. Poke still lays in the duck house with the golf balls, but Peek makes a new nest every day in the straw piles I have out in the run. I take the egg, she makes a new nest in a different place. She does not approve of my egg-stealing ways.
Only one egg today. Peek skipped her first egg since she started laying. Poke is now laying like a champ.
These four have not yet started laying eggs. Little slackers.
I have a mallard that has been laying an egg a day, every day, since the end of January. I'm guessing it will slow down eventually, but she shows no signs of stopping. My other mallard is not quite keeping up, but she's trying.
