This is our Daisy Lynn, 10 yr old Australian Cattle dog/red heeler. These are very fun breeds!! Daisy has a big overbite but she is full of piss n vinegar lol! These dogs have only two speeds:100 mph or zero. Easy to train but never ever let them get bored. The old saying is a bored cattle...
Last year in their old coop/run, hubby had built a spacious, warm coop for our birds. Ventilation, roosts everything. One group would play, scratch around, lay eggs, spend the day in their coop. But at night, they would roost outside even in the cold rain no matter how cold it got and we...
Mine showed me that roos are kind dads. They seem to be teaching them to scratch, Joey and Jamieson even tid bit snacks for their babies. Joey has one of the babies cling to him everywhere. Ricky is a nice roo. Not a great roo but nice. He just ignores his babies and he really does not give...
Moved to the country, got things ready for chooks then picked out 8 different chicks from TSC. Wanted to look out and see different colors and sizes. We do not care for eggs and rarely eat meat. Just always wanted chickens. From that 8 we now have 32 total mixed breeds with 11 being roos. I...
We finished our new run/coop combo a few months back and we put down a layer about 2 inches thick with large/small gravel combo, 2 inches sand on top of that then a couple bags of pine shavings from TS in each run on top of that. Now putting leaves and twigs on top ( chooks are mixing that in...
She did not make it. She could move feet and wings but not her head. At least she was warm and safe. Thank you for the advice but I think she was doomed from the beginning.
Need to get that piece of straw out of there lol. Did not want to disturb her too much so only removed the cover towel for picture. She is dry now and looks a pretty golden color.
I put the box on top of heat and in the box is a fluffy towel with a thin towel on top of box. Just checked and she stretched out her little leg. I feel sorry for her. What a rough start if she makes it.
I put her in the spare bedroom where we can keep eye on her and have a towel on top of the box. We closed vent so no ac. I really do not think she will make it but she is breathing evenly, not labored.
I just put her in a box nested in towels and she is in the garage. It is very warm out there and if nothing else at least she will be comfortable when she goes. Poor little thing. Thank you all for your advice. Now we wait and see what mother nature will decide.
This pic I just took. I have never seen one fresh from the egg so do not know what is normal. While getting ready to take this the broody took a bit of the translucent stuff off.
My chick is out of the shell and her butt is free and her beak is out but head is still in the translucent stuff. She had split the eggshell around 12 or 1 this afternoon and it is now 530. Is it time to panic or let her finish on her own?
