Enola....
I should say "in addition to" the medicated water ..... what do you think about a soaked worm...and they don't soak up too much, I laid one down in a DROP of Corid...just gets it wet enough, what I'm worried about is it not being diluted enough.
Cindy
From the reading I've done I would say my little ButterCup has a mild to mid case of Cocci.
She sits or lays down about 80% of the time with her wings dropped.
She IS eating and drinking and the other chicks are not picking on her.
I have medicated the water with 1 tsp of Corid to 3/4 Gal of...
We got her on April 20th and she was "supposedly" 1 week old, so that would make her about 6 weeks old now. We are feeding medicated baby chick food.
Would more video help? I need to look up what coccidia is !!!
She is about a week younger than the others but was purchased at the same time.
She didn't start off this way either.
Her vent is clear. She eats and drinks just fine.
I am trying to get the video on here, but it might be upside down (sorry!!) but its a good example of how she behaves.
She even EATS sitting down!!!
It's this little girl. She is in a laying down or sitting position every time I go over and visit them in the box (every few hours, sometime minutes cuz I love watching them). She doesn't seem to be hurt, and she CAN walk around and even run.
Sort of worried...
Of our 4, six week old chicks, this one sits a majority of the time.
She can walk and run even, doesn't seem to be hurt or crippled, she just sits, and sits, and sits.
They are still in the 48 x 24 x 24 cardboard condo (coop will done next week). No matter what time of day or night I peak...
Did you follow some plans or just "wing" it? We have NEVER built a thing ever, but have all the tools. Same thing, chicks are growing fast and need something bigger than their Cardboard Condo very soon.
...and a little cheese) and that went crazy !! It was so fun to watch them. Like kids in a candy store.
I hope this coop works out for the next few months, it should.... *ah, enjoying he fuzz butts again*
Thank you everyone !!!!! This should be backyardchickens/.therapy, dot com...
...every tool known to mankind (husband is a fireman that always wanted to build things so has bought tools he has NO idea what they are used for!!!) *laughing now, I MUST sound frazzled* Equipment to build won't be an issue.
Budget.... I am HOPING less than $500 -
OK, I took that deep...
...basic blueprints on line.
Yep, I am a strong, intelligent woman who is now scared to death to do this chicken raising adventure.
I still don't even know what KIND of black chickens I have !!!!!!!! :-(
*venting*
Why are these little chickens being so mean to each other in ONE day...
I love this.... did you have blueprint plans or did you just "wing" it ;-) ? We have NO building experience whatsoever, but ALL the tools, and we are going to attempt a 4 hen coop this weekend.... this is the design we are aiming for.
We were "sold" 2 Americaunas and 2 Black Australorps. Have some doubts based on other experiences with our Ma and Pa feedstore.
ZucchiniBread in first photo, Butterscotch in 2nd photo, and Bean and Olive in photo #3 and #4.

Thank you !!! While we were sold an "Americauna" I would certainly settle for a female Leghorn !!! She/he is going to stay with us for a bit then, just to be sure. Thank all SO much, I am so glad I found this website. GREAT info from A to Z. I fought this whole "chicken thing" with my...
So when do you know "for sure" - besides 6 months from now when he doesn't lay eggs....Hahhahaa. Do I still have any hope this MIGHT be a little girl ? :-)
