I've been treating this adult bird for wry neck for 2 weeks. Has improved some, but still happens periodically throughout the day. Started after she'd been broody for a few weeks. Can it be something other than wry neck? Giving this bird poly vi sol/selenium/vitamin e twice a day is wearing...
Update: Have been treating hen for wry neck with selenium, vitamin E and poly vi sol for a few weeks. I was keeping her in the house which broke her from being broody, but she still struggles with the wry neck. It seems to come and go. She cannot roost and sleeps in the egg box at night...
I am giving her all those things, even gave her tuna last night. She was eating well and drinking well in the evening. I brought her in the house and put her in a cage and let her keep one egg. Made her a mesh with tuna, eggs, layer feed, mealworms, scratch and put nutridrench in it also. As...
Yes, she was doing great last night when i recorded that. Now today she can hardly balance. I'll keep treating her and maybe in a few days she'll improve. Thanks for your help!
No, I don't think so. She was doing pretty well last night, so I was getting hopeful. Now this morning can't hardly balance herself, running into everything, can only go backwards.
Fortunately I found a vet that will do it for $23. I will probably go that route. She's been around the other hens up until last night when i pulled her in the house. Hope it's not Marek's.
I agree that when they lose interest in food, then it's time to end it. I've never had to do that and I really don't know if I can. She is a pet. She seems worse today. Can only walk backwards, running into everything. I'm giving her vitamin e, selenium, poly vi sol. My other hens are fine...
She is so far able to drink and eat still. She seems worse today and is walking backwards and running into things. She snaps out of it at times and behaves normally for periods. I do not have an incubator but i have a second broody hen setting.
I have a hen that's been broody about 2 weeks. Couldn't seem to break her so got her some hatching eggs. She now seems to have developed wry neck. It's been extremely hot weather. I am treating her with Vitamin E, Selenium, Poly vi sol. Can I let her keep setting or should I move her in the...
The first batch of photos is all the same one. Looks yellow in some light and reddish in others. The three photos i posted in comments are another chicken.
I have 4 of these "hens". One is beginning to have some pink color to the comb/waddles. Not sure if it's just more developed than the others or turning into a roo.
I have a broody cochin that is hatching 10 chicks. It's her second time. She is in an egg box in the coop and i put a makeshift cage around it to keep others out. It's probably 2 x 2. Can i move her and the eggs into the house into a larger cage about a week before hatch date so that it will...
My cochin frizzle bantam went broody or so I thought. She has hatched before with ease. I went and bought her some fertile eggs to hatch. She sat on them one evening and overnight and then abandoned them most of the day. Then she again in the evening decided to go broody again and sat on...
