He passed naturally.. I tried giving him some sav a chick but he didn't want to drink it and I just let him lay there peacefully.. I was thinking of putting an end but I couldn't.. I was afraid if I did it wrong he would suffer even more.. So yea.. Was so sad the brooder is so quiet now cuz...
They are cream brabanters.
Update: The lil guy didn't make it.. He passed this around 4am when I checked... I found him laying on his side and panting around 2am. It was heartbreaking to see him suffer.. It's so strange tho because earlier he was eating, drinking, pooping.. Moving around...
Lol I am far from pro. They are doing good. One of them is an escape artist lol the smallest chick is half the size of the other two tho (a lil worried about him). I mean he eats and drinks but he is not as active as the other two and sleeps a lot. He also constantly chirps. Idk if he's cold...
Really?!?! You seem like you raised birds for a long time! I'm glad you stopped by cuz you and Amylynn been very helpful!! I'm so glad for BYC!! :) Awww that's adorable.. Hope mine will do that too! For now, everytime I put my hand by them, they all run from it.. I'm trying to get them to get...
Yes they are!! I have never own chickens before.. I mean I had two parrots before but that was many years ago.. So that doesn't count? Lol so I'm very excited to raise these lil ones..
Thanks!! will definitely try out the hardboiled egg! and yea I was thinking the same thing that his legs are wider, the other chicks look more straight.. so i'll give it another day or two and hope he gains strength in his leg, but if not then i'll make a leg brace for this lil fella.
Mm here's an update on the weak chick.. He seems to be able to stand and wobble a lil longer than before but then he will lay right back down.. I was unable to find sav a chick at any other stored besides a few store that is so far away from me so I mixed in some starter feed/warm water/ a few...
If you cut it.. Did you cut it close to its butt? Well this morning before I left for work he still seems really weak.. But he keeps trying to stand and he does and would walk a bit and then drop back down to its belly.. He chirps and responds...Remember the link you sent me? The article said we...
Hey! Please help!! Something doesn't seem right with the third chick! Once I got home from lunch I see that it was starting to zip but once off work the membrane dried and wrapped around it, so I help get the dry part off and made the hole a lil bigger and soon after it kicked out of the shell...
Hey! So.. I woke up around 2am to assist the two that pipped the wrong way but as I was chipping away the shell I could still see veins so I put them back in the incubator.. But then guess what happened next?!?! The third egg had so much activity.. You can see the difference between a correct...
After you helped zip it.. Do you remember how long it took the chick to get out? And did you have to do it all the way around or just like the pic and left it alone until it broke through itself?
Ok so I just applied some bacitracin ointment and I could hear the egg to the left in the picture pecking at the shell (this chick peeps so loud you can hear it from the kitchen lol) and the second egg likes to nibble a lot.. So here is my plan.. Since I work 12hrs shift... usually I leave work...
It has been 8 hours. So I did take both of them out to make sure they did have an opening and they both do.. I did make it a little bigger to make sure oxygen it flowing more easily... They pipped near the end (near pointy end). They are both chirping and moving every time I check on them.. But...
I was really hoping that I did not have to assist since I'm so new to this, but I'll do whatever's necessary to increase their survival.. The problem is that by tmr morning I will be at work 12hr shift) so I wouldn't be able to assist until night time.. Will they still be okay? And also they...
Right now all the eggs I'm incubating are Creme Brabanters.. when I first decided on raising chickens, I didnt know which type of breed would be good for beginners and I came across a picture of the Creme Branbanters and love the way they looked and I read comments/rating for this type of breed...
