I have 1 silkie 3 reds.they did slow down on the laying ...north east weather ya know. Maybe 2 day or so .
So today I dug up at least 10 eggs probably been there for awhile, you think there any good.
i have 3 reds and 1 white silky and i know it's not my silky she has cream eggs.
it's one of the reds.......this is the 3 or 4th time I've gotten doubles, not complaining.
is this standard for most young birds around 5-6 mos old. hey i only have to use one egg....lol
so my 3 reds @4.5 months old are laying but i also have a white silkie, shes not laying
yet.....all the same age. when do you think she'll start laying.?
her combs aren't developed like the reds......you think that maybe it?
Picked up 4 hens some time ago. ..may 31 was 8 weeks of age.
This morning 2 of them layed....yeaaa!!!
There on the small side put now they'll start laying. And they found the nest to lay in.
my ladies are 4 months old, i got the on a crumble feed and in a week i'm
gonna start them on layer food. i just made a nesting box for the four ladies.
i put some hay in there to start there process . when should i start putting in a fake egg?
or maybe they'll figure it out.
been on the delv food and there eating it but tried diff. other foods bananas and today strawberry's. they don't hit fast and kinda not recognizing it as food for a long time.
at 11 weeks or so i able get my birds to go in at night. at first (at 8 weeks) i was putting them in at night on by one then i heard that putting a small light on at dusk will get them in......and it works, had the light go on for 3 nights at dusk , yesterday i shut the light off completely...
So for the last 2 day we kept our 4 ...8 week old birds that we bought cooped up. i put a light inside timed a 8pm till 930. hopefully they'll go in tonight. momma's got the detail making sure they go up tonight .
I have to work.
i have 4 ....8 week old birds..... i know it takes time . the past 3 night we had to
put them inside by hand. good thing or bad? should i let them do it them selves?
or keep putting them in our selves. they just seem to cuddle on a corner instead
of trying to go in.
there at 8 weeks. there on a 20% crumbles then in 3 weeks we go up to the next feed.
should i stay with feed be fore i give them scapes? the last flock i had seemed to
get spoiled with all the scapes and wouldn't eat the layer pellets.
