i was worried because they seem to lock necks and start fighting at one point one had the others wing feather in its beak and wouldn't let go. seems kinda brutal.

my older black star hen seem to lay different shape and different sized eggs. some are pointy, others are more round, some are a little smaller than the others she lays (but still bigger than any other egg i get)

what types of feather growing patterns will i notice between the baby rosters and hens as they get older? i am almost at week 2.5 and 3.

About when should the peck order start? should i be doing anything different while this is going on? I have 5 chicks and 2 of them seem to be fighting they will be 3 weeks old by Thursday and Friday (23Th,24Th)

the egg shape thing doesn't really work my black star hen i hatched (mixed) came from a pointy egg.

I meant like corn from the garden type corn. i haven't been giving them chick grit because the person at the store said not to give it to them till you let them out side. is 2 weeks too early to start them off on chick grit?

if you order from some online place you ushaly have to get like 15-25 if you dont want to pay for the exra shipping. our first batch of chickens we had most of them died at a young age (nothing got them) the ones i got from the local feed store I started with 14 and still have 9 healthy chickens...

i started with a 5lb medicated chick starter bag just in case mine didn't hatch. I am getting a 25lb bag next time because i think those come in a resealable bag. i have 5 chicks that are a week and 1/2 old

no because it can cause more deformities and early deaths in the chicks (or the hens that every one wants) and could kill some of the hens too.

what age do u start them off on straw berry's? i want to give mine blueberries (got plenty in the freezer i can thaw out for them) and straw berry's. i have been giving mine some cooked corn (not sure if that's OK or not) and they go crazy over that. mine are a little over a week old.
