My easier suggestion would be to put a bottom piece of hardware cloth on your chicken tractor. that would keep them from digging in and allow your birds to still get grass when your tractor is moved.
I know this is of topic but I'm glad i live where there is a mill close by. Couldn't imagine spending that much on chick starter. 50 lbs of game bird feed was only 13 dollars last week.
It's been my experience that raccoons kill mercilessly. They may eat the chickens but kill many at the same time. Maybe a Fox or weasel? Possibly even a bobcat
