    I could use some gender help

    unformed yolk???

    We have had a few eggs with a yolk that is pure liquid. It has no form to it. Anyone know the cause??? (I know they are not old)

    blood in hatched shell???

    This guy had a heck of a time. The shell broke before the membrane. 3/4th of the shell was off. membrane dried out and was bright white hand had brown patches like dried blood. I put a wet paper towel around it (this was a natural hatch not incubator) I left it on its own under mom last night...

    I got a broody hen....

    Ok I live in New Hampshire and have a broody hen. When is the latest she should be allowed to attempt to hatch her babies? She is a silkie. The eggs are Isa brown eggs and one easter egger egg that she is sitting on. The roosters we have are 2 silkies and a easter egger.

    one of my girls played her first egg....but

    It was tinny and it was crushed. Is that normal??? Also my mom hearted you should never remove the first egg. Ever hear this?? Title should have stayed layed. Autocorrect.

    they are loving being completely free ranged now!

    We were having MAJOR preditor issues with a couple of foxes. (they were in cages we could move and had full access to the ground. We moved 3 times a week) We were able to trap and relocate the foxes so everyone is completely free ranged now :) (i would let them out if I was down there before)

    Antisocial behavior with a roo and hens?

    We have a roo we have started calling "bully" He attacks the hens all the time. We ended up having to remove him from the flock because he tears the feathers out of the hens. any idea why he does this? (we will be thinning out our roos soon at a auction)

    I know the others are Silkies, Rhode island reds, cornish rocks and Isa browns. (they get to go outside of the cage when we are outside and the cages are moved twice a week. there are some extreme predators here. there is more room than there looks like. they just love to stay close to...

    woohoo most of my chicken coop supplies are comming free! does it sound like a good plan?

    so I have a flock of 20 birds. a mix of arucana, isa browns and silkies. I am getting a free bob house that is 6ft W X 8ft X 7ft h. I am using Pallets and ply wood to add an extra 2 feet on each side. so it will be 8 x 10 x 7. I have free 2x3s and free chicken wire and the run will be 8ft wide x...
