Never heard of 'dont remove their first egg' And dont see why you shouldnt.

It isn't "you shouldn't remove the first egg". It's "you should leave the first egg" as in leave it there to encourage them to continue to lay in the nest boxes. At least that's what my grandmother used to say. You can just put fake eggs or golf balls in the nest instead though.
