Ok here is the deal when my worms started to change to beetles for the first time I moved them to another box so I could keep the stages separate. Well the beetle box got mold. So after I figured out that I couldn't get it to stop I got all the beetles out of that and put them ina nice 3 drawer...
Yes I have LOTS of beetles...but I have had beetles for probably a month now and I don't see any baby worms ? Sigh... I think I will move them out to the shed where they will be warmer and maybe that will speed things up
Ok everyone a few questions, one...we have had our mealworms since April and so far we have not seen ANY babies? Could it be that my room is to cold? Could I put them outside no matter how hot it gets?
Well I was thinking they were older than they are but I think they are 8 weeks old. I am going to try and get some more pictures today, I sure hope I don't end up with more than 1 rooster haha
I can't seem to find some of those breeds on the McMurray website :S that isn't good news haha
O man More Roo's? I have that I am like 99% sure is an EE Roo, green legs but just seems like the feathers are diff. I will try to get a picture of him tomorrow :)
Those Darn EE can look so many diff ways its hard for me to figure these babies out
Hmmmm not sure if my hubby would like for me to run a hose right now i have two 5 gallon buckets I can fill up for my nipplers so somethign else has GOT to work ...sigh
Any chance anyone can tell me what kind my chickens are? I got the rainbow mix from McMurray and can't seem to figure out what is what in my coop haha
1. White chicken with grey feathers? Were VERY white as babies as well.
2.Grey chick (beautiful) was a grey chick as well
3. Black and white...
I am beyond frustrated with my water nipple system. In therory it should work great but the darn nipples I got were crap or somethign because the floor is constantly wet. I even made a little thing to catch the water with wire over it that seems to get water in it but they still get it all over...
I would like to see what others say as well but I am pretty sure coons, cats, and even dogs would dig under a run to get to the chickens perhaps even stinky skunks!
Thank you :) My biggest concern is the waterer. I don't know if I bought "cheap" nipples or what the deal is but it seems like the chickens miss alot of the water, so I made a little water catcher to put right under it and hopefully that will atleast keep the sand from getting so wet.
How...
Finally got my coop done! WHEW Lots of work! You can check out pictures http://ruralcityfarmingfamily.blogspot.com/2013/05/finally-coop-is-done.html :)
Please give me ideas and suggestions :) I feel like the chickens are going to get bored lol
I am 100% sure my chicks were getting bored and over using the water nipples !
My husband is going to crack up when I tell him I am going to cook them a loaf hahaha
Also my chicks are on sand (they are like 4 weeks now) Is that ok for chick grit? Never even dawned on me that I might need...
They are I think at 4 weeks now. I have lost track just alittle bit today haha
I have read about people giving their chicks fodder from the get go havn't i? I am going to just offer it again and see if they eat more of it now that they know what is going on...if nothing else it will provide...
Well, I gave my chicks their first fodder last night... ANND I don't know that they ate a single piece...they did walk all over it and peck at it some but there wasn't much missing this morning.... SIGH alot of work if they are not going to like it :S
