    Prolapsed vent

She has gone lame. I can't see anything wrong with her feet or legs. She just lays and isn't eating. I've tried but nothing has worked.

    Prolapsed vent

I am so sad....we are going to have to put down our girl with the hurt foot. With all my attention to Genny, Nugget wasn't getting food like she needed and is not going make it. I feel so awful. I saved one life at the expense of another.

    Prolapsed vent

I am happy to say I spent the day getting her back with the other girls and getting them back outside. I plan to keep a very close eye on her, but she laid yesterday and it stayed in. I was such a happy mama I almost cried. Now I just have to get my girl with a hurt foot or leg nursed back to...

    Prolapsed vent

Great news: the hunk of poo came off this morning. I was really beginning to get discouraged and didn't have time for a full soaking this morning, but I cleaned her up while I was cleaning as gently but as firmly as possible I worked at it and it came off After clean up I was able get...

    Prolapsed vent

I got a bigger hunk of the stuff off after this last soak. I gently pushed everything back in there and held it. It stayed in longer than normal but not sure how long it will last. Taking each day as it comes. JuJube2 I hope your girl gets better!

I can get it to go back in, but it pops right back out It is getting smaller.

    Prolapsed vent

The scab seems to be on the prolapse itself. I've gotten quite a bit of it off. I'll be glad when we are no longer snow bound so I can get out and get the necessary supplies to help her. We're doing what we can with what we have.

    Prolapsed vent

She doesn't like the hair dryer AT ALL! I get her as dry as possible. That's the only part of her treatment she doesn't like. I swear she'd fall asleep in the sink if our house was quieter.

    Prolapsed vent

This is the newest picture. It still doesn't want to stay in and we still have a bit of a scab, but WAY better than what we started with.

    Prolapsed vent

I had to clean the house this morning so she didn't get her morning spa treatment. It looked much better by the end of the day yesterday. She's eating, drinking and acting normal. He vent still keeps popping out and still has a big scab, but we are going to work on it so more today. Despite her...

    Prolapsed vent

I am a first timer as well, so I'm not really anyone to answer. It's hard to tell from the pictures. I don't think this is the same as what my girl started with. Her insides came out with the egg. Does look like she is having some kind of troubles. Cutting the feathers away helped me to see...

    Prolapsed vent

Well we just finished trimming feathers away, soaking for 30 minutes in epsom salts, getting a lot of the white scabby stuff off, applied honey, prep H, and Neosporin. She like the bath so much this time, the epsom salts made a big difference. I think she may have gone to sleep, but the house is...

    Prolapsed vent

I agree, I think she may have a vent gleet. We are snowed in so I will do the best I can to treat with what we have on hand. Thanks so much for the advice! It's just what we needed. I will post again to let everyone know how the treatment is going.

    Prolapsed vent

Here is a picture. It's not super clean now , time for another bath. Good idea with the honey and epsom salt. I'll give them a try. The part that looks like poo will NOT come off. I've tried and tired.

    Prolapsed vent

I need advice....On Wednesday, our Wyandotte Genny had a majorly prolapsed vent with an egg hung up. We immediately put in a warm bath. I tried to get it moved back inside so the egg could come out, that didn't work. Then I tried to break the egg, but couldn't. In a panic, I took a razor blade...
