Holy cow!!!! I just posted about this a few days ago! My baby chicks and baby guineas are being raised together! One of my baby roosters tried to mate with my Guinea! I guess this answers my questions how crazy.... I guess I need to do some separating, but they all free range together (insert...
This spring I had a couple hens that became momma's, when they got big enough I started their own coop to keep them safe. I also added 9 guineas to the baby coop. Now they're all grown up. I let them mingle daily (they free range) with my old flock.( 10 girls and 1 roo) They get along great...
I had 2 girls that decided to sit, I let them do their thing. I've never experienced the process. I was very excited! One hen had 9 eggs, all were good eggs, but she decided after 5 babies she didn't care about the unborn. They were even peeping in their shells. I tried to save them, but iOnly...
I have a crooked beak and she was having a hard time also, but I put her food into a deep dish bowl so she would stick her in it and get some food, so far it seems to work just fine. Good Luck!
Something got into my coop once before leaving one my girls with a broken wing, I trimed the feathers back as far as I could so it didn't drag, and it eventually healed back the way it should. You can tell when she tries to fly it's not normal but she gets around just fine
I understand how you feel about putting her down...I had to do that this morning with one of mine, it broke my heart but I knew it was the right thing to do I hate it that the dogs killed your flock, I think I would have killed the dogs if I caught them. I wish you the best
Well I found out what happened. The kids and I went out to look at everything and my son found a tiny hole in the chicken wire, something grabbed her leg and tried to pull her through the chicken wire and chain link fence. The wire cut her leg and broke it...What are the odds of something like...
I went out this morning to let my girls and Charlie out and I seen one of my girls in the bottom of the coop. I let them all out to free range and she didn't go out with the rest. I walked over to her and picked her up (she never lets me handle her) I knew something was really bad then.... I put...
After a raccoon got in my coop, I read up and educated myself on everything to do so it never happened again. I added a chain link fence around our chicken wire, and took chain link fence and wired it to the coop and buried it around my entire coop. I took metal roofing around the wood of our...
Skunk's or Racoon's are usually the ones that only eat the head. I've had a coon that got in my coop and got two of my girls and I set my trap for several weeks and caught 8 coons and 2 skunks. When you trap them make sure you trap is secured to the ground or a tree. A can of tuna with holes...
No I'm not feeding oyster shells separate, it's included in her laying crumble and I've never had this problem in any of my girls since they've started laying. I guess I'll add a separate feeder of this to make sure I've also added a deep bowl so she will get more food
Lash egg huh? I did...
