Hi! We got 4 'day old' chicks from TSC (I know, I know) on 3/2, so I've been figuring them at approximately 2.5 weeks or so. However, I've been looking at people's pictures to see whether I thought they were roos or pullets, and I sort of feel like compared to others the same age, they may be...
my two SLWs are by far my loudest. one of them screams if you look at her funny. but they're also new to the flock and still a little stressed so they'll probably tone it down a little eventually.
I can't believe I never noticed but y'all are right. she has a few feathers on each side under her ears that are brown! good grief. and I thought I was being observant. haha
as far as I can tell she's completely black with a bluish-green sheen. I've never seen any brown on her anywhere.
and they came from Atwoods, so truthfully there's no telling about any of them, haha. thank y'all again for all your help!
@TheJadeChicken
here's a better picture of her :)
and here are a few pictures I took of them yesterday, just in case.
thank y'all so much for all your help. I love learning more about my crazy chickens-never thought I'd be so attached to them, haha.
googled redcaps-mine look just like all the pullets I saw! I think you're my new best friend, Kev-now I don't have to get rid of them! one question, though-they've got some spur growth and I think I've read that in some breeds hens will have spurs as well. is this to be expected in redcaps?
my...
Bear with me because these are my first chickens and I'm definitely still learning :) I have ideas as far as breeds and genders go but I'd like your opinions/confirmations-especially since I have to get rid of the roos since I'm not allowed them here.
any help you can give me would...
Eep, really? do the others look like pullets? here's a couple more of him/her-I didn't resize these.

they're about 5 weeks old! I thought they may be but the first one, leia, is basically solid black and her eyes are an odd color! so just wasn't sure there :) thanks!
I tried about fifty different ways to get pictures uploaded about fifty different times and I can't seem to make it work! Here's a link to a photobucket album-they're all labeled so if anybody has a chance to look and see what you think I'd REALLY appreciate it!! I've been thinking #1 & 2 were...
one of my two week old chicks has somehow gotten a cut on her leg. it's about 3/4 of a centimeter long and is more of a slice-doesn't seem TOO deep and she doesn't seem to be having any trouble walking. not sure how it happened-nobody else is injured. I put some antibiotic ointment on it & it is...
thanks, y'all! i'm totally fascinated by them-they're still in a makeshift brooder inside so I just sit and watch them. they're so funny! now to figure out what breeds they are, haha. I've learned a lot here so far just reading the forums so I know it'll be really helpful.
hi, guys! just wanted to introduce myself and my new chicks. i'm christy. i've always wanted chickens and finally got three chicks to raise and love :) currently modifying a rabbit hutch to serve as their coop and getting a run built. my chicks are named after constellations-lyra, cassiopeia, &...
