Its normal. I think it makes them feel safe. Evan my grown chickens that roost on the perch at night huddle as close as they can. I have four nest boxes with perches. About ten hens get on one and huddle.

Congrats. I no it is exciting to get those first eggs.

Pebcrb. Have you run an afd for free rooster. Also here, the hu main society takes chickens and adopts them out. I got two of my hens from them . You may want to check that out. Dont want your babies getting hurt. Or developing a fear of chickens becouse of one mean rooster.

Oh my. I enjoyed looking at these so much. Prettiest chickens ever. I had never seen this breed. Iwill have to add some to my flock.

Hello. Im new to BYC. I hope im posting this in the right place. Someone gave me this rooster yesterday. They had to re home him because they had too many roosters and they were fighting. They didn't know what breed he was either. Can someone tell me what he is. He is very gentle and sweet. [/IMG]
