    Cayenne Pepper - Got it - Now what!

    Well I never would of thought Cayenne Pepper because everything I read says don't get them anything spicy and holy crap cayenne pepper is hot...but going to try. I only have 2 hens just starting out so this has all be so helpful. They are in a coop but everyday I let them out for 3-4 hrs...

    Just curious live in No. Calif and curious do we need to treat the hens for mosquitos? We tend to have them bad where we live and we treat our dogs but didn't know if there is something we need to do to protect our hens? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Ok so we are just starting out have a small coop designed to hold 2-4 hens we only have 2...we have it off the ground because we have 3 large dogs....but do you think sand on the bottom and then keeping straw in the nesting area would be good?

    Ok new to raising chickens and so glad I found BYC lots of ideas and have really helped....but started following the thread of deep litter and not sure I follow so you DON"T clean the coop weekly? I clean it several times a week because I thought I read you should keep the nesting area...

    No we actually got it from Tractor Supply. Since this is our first time raising we thought we should start out small just in case we didn't like it.....well I can see that I will need a bigger one eventually as I am loving them.
