    Free chick from McMurray

They were in the bin of chicks that were starting to fly out and they had to get rid of them. I couldn't resist and of course my daughter helped influence me too. But I think I might have some white egg layers now.

    MEALWORMS!!!!!

They are very easy to set up, there is pretty much 2 main ways to do it; all in one container (which is what I started with) or a setup with 3 drawers. I am planning on trying the 3 drawer setup too since that seems to be the most popular. They are very low maintenance and each female can...

    Florida weeds for my chickens

I live in Florida and for several reasons I am unable to free range my chickens. So I go out everyday and do the free ranging for them by collecting weeds and grass from around my 2 acres. I avoid some weeds not because I know they are bad for my chickens but because I am not sure. Is anybody...

The second one I am pretty sure are dandelions and if so are extremely good for your chickens. The first picture I am not really sure about because I can not see it very well. Chickens are pretty good about knowing what they can eat. If it is bad for them they will pretty much just avoid it...

    Coop help please!!!!

Mine are dual purpose ( orpingtons and jersey giants). The main reason is to keep them separated from my laying flock since they are temporary and fed differently.

    Coop help please!!!!

I have decided that I am going to build a separate coop specifically for growing my meat chickens out. Are there any special requirements I should keep in mind other then the basics? Do I need to build nest boxes if I am not keeping them long enough to start laying? Suggestions and pics would...

    Raising chickens and children

I am trying to find a way to incorporate them into a science project for the kids. We are thinking about comparing incubators to hatching with broody hens.

I really like the coop we built, it's not the prettiest but it is solid and secure. Next is the turkey coop and brooder coops for the momma chickens. Thinking about building another coop just for growing out my meat birds.
