What do you think of the new BYC platform?

Definately too bright. I can't really even type this without squinting and getting the start of a headache. Not too sure about anything else, I can't stay on long enough to get a feel for the site due to the overly bright white.

What BYCer's have you met or want to?

I'd love to meet everyone, but I do feel blessed to live close to Cindi and Lurchie. She doesn't like me to get mushy so I won't, but I really enjoy the both of them and what they do to help out. Do you know she bought my very first two bushels of green beans out of out field garden?? The...

What BYCer's have you met or want to?

I've met CoyoteMagic and her wonderful dh in person, along with a few at a couple of chickenstocks in the county, like MattNC, ( I think that's his user name) and another wonderful lady that sold me a few silkies and I helped her get her dd on the road to homeschooling. I'd love to meet the...

Car-lashes fun, must have, or just plain wrong POLL

I voted,so I might as well reply. I would never, ever have them on my truck. But, to be fair, my truck isn't a girly truck, it's a 1973 Ford F-150 with the original engine(98,084 miles) , paint job, rims, etc. I just don't "do" things like anything that others have been talking about. The...

    Water Usage.... CHIME IN!!!!!!!

Feeling the pain here...really. We're in a very unique situation here on our farm. The city line runs through our pasture and so we have city water for the house and for at least one outside line. We also have two wells on the property, one electric and one that is from the original well and is...

anyone heard of this? please read!!

Hi, I saw your post on CL the other day so I'm glad that I read this. You may want to do a search for a lady in the Charlotte pet section that was notorious for picking up dogs that weren't hers, among other animals, and re-selling them. Charlotte Animal Control may have some info on her, I know...

Thanks Debi and Desert Rooster for being there. She's gone now and I am about to snap from stress and loss over the last week.

EE hen not well, not sure if it's heat or eggbound.

Keep checking on her, not looking good. Am incredibly frustrated with losses and tired, no, more than tired, sick to death of death. It will get better I know this. That poor little hen though...I hope she surprises me overnight with a complete recovery.

EE hen not well, not sure if it's heat or eggbound.

Thank you Desert Rooster, that means a lot. I just gave her a cool bath in the sink and then brought her back outside to dry off sitting on my lap with a towel around her. It has to still be at least 80 out here. I've got her back in isolation where it's dark, quiet and cool in the house. At...

EE hen not well, not sure if it's heat or eggbound.

Already tried it. She's having none of it. I think I'm going to lose another one. I'm going to try a cool bath and see what happens. Man, you'd think that time as a vet tech would help but it really doesn't.

EE hen not well, not sure if it's heat or eggbound.

Quote: It's soft and pliable and she's been in the house now for about an hour while I was going on the checklist of possible things wrong. She is still very lethargic and I can't get anything into her at all, not even straigh poly vi sol or gatoraide. Bath time with cool water? I'm really...

EE hen not well, not sure if it's heat or eggbound.

And I've looked at both in the search function. She is a yr old EE, has been laying daily since I got her flock about a month ago. Usually bright and skittish, bright eyes, interest in food, and they all have been kept in isolation away from the other flocks. Her diet is laying pellets free...

Quote: X4 as I have the same question in my thread below. (Yes I know I can do a search, the search button isn't all that freindly now. (The one in the blue bar up top, not the google search.) At least it's not to me, lol.

Question for BYC, got unintentional Cornish X in a sale *NEW ? *

Quote: Thanks for that advice. I only give a mixed scratch feed with other seeds mixed in to the flock they are in, but in about a 1 cup ratio once per day for 9 birds. My feed isn't medicated as it's starter/grower for the other younger chickens, and they are finishing off the layer crumble...

Question for BYC, got unintentional Cornish X in a sale *NEW ? *

Thanks SteveH. These girls are about 3 months old and huge. I'm guessing without a scale is about 8-9 pounds. They have been fed layer crumble so at least they haven't been fed a higher protein feed. I know that they are above the ideal processing age, but is 3 months old enough to be sure to...

Question for BYC, got unintentional Cornish X in a sale *NEW ? *

Hi. I bought a flock off of CL yesterday and have a dilemma. The flock was supposed to be 2 BO's,1 red chicken, 4 white birds, (I thought Leghorns) 2 ducks and a roo. I got out there and as soon as I saw the "white chickens" I knew they were Cornish X. The owner of these poor girls was sold...
