Only 266 signatures on this petition.... it needs 5K to get noticed... it may not be in your back yard, but if it is allowed to happen and no one fights it then pretty soon it will be at your door... my heart goes out to the people who are getting notices this week and given 2 weeks to get rid...
I signed it and shared it on facebook.... and it is off.... I sure hope they get this fixed, it is not just chickens, it is farming...... just so friggin sad!
Here is the link to sign the petition, please feel free to share on any social media! I signed it because I think it is everyone's right to choose to grow their own food and farm their land if they wish...

thanks for sharing your stories. I am new to the chicken thing, so I have just started giving them treats. My grandmother kept birds, parakeets, cockatoos, and doves. She used to give them celery and hard boiled eggs with the shell on them. She would just mash them up whole and offer them to the...
I gave my chickens some melon today and they went crazy... it was the funniest thing ever, almost as funny as watching them try to figure out the worm I dropped in their run... I think they thought it was a snake....lol Anyway, just sharing
I was thinking about running a dow rod for the perch in the run, but because our set up is so small, it might prevent the kids from being able to go in and catch them if I need them too...
This is my coop, we plan to side it in when the weather gets cold, but here in Texas we are already close to 90 degrees and 60-70 at night... so we wanted lots of ventilation. We just move it over once a week so they get new grass and they LOVE it! As for the baby Rooster, that is him, Joe...
That is great news! From the information I got, they will lay about 3 years, which are marked by laying seasons, heavy in the warmer months and then tapering off in the colder months... so you still have time... I have already told my husband that he is doing the dispatching because I already...
We also have made our coop from recycled materials. I did have to get a few things, but the lumber was all reclaimed. I have 6 Bantams, so I can have a smaller space. When I moved my chicks from the brooder to the coop and run, they did not go in the house for almost a week. They stayed in the...
It is official Joe Dirt is a boy!! He started trying to crow today, nothing comes out, but he is trying. He is also getting a pretty green sheen on his black tail feathers. Fingers crossed though that the rest of them are hens... The only one I am thinking might be a Roo is Mr. T, but then...
Holy Moly! They changed so fast! It has beautiful coloring though, I love the differences in the red..... I suppose I still have a few more weeks to wait...lol... I heard that they usually start to crow around 9 weeks old... but none of mine seem interested...yet...
I will be watching mine very closely then the next few weeks. But Red does not seem to have much in the way of tail feathers. Instead, it has a stubby tail and feathers sweeping up. I have no clue what he/she is, because most of the photos I see of red chickens just does not do the coloring right :/
We can have roosters. I originally thought it would be a rooster, but then watching the feathers develop and the changes, the comb has not really changed at all, and there is no waddle development. Plus the tail shoots straight out... I do not know.. I am so lost!!!
How old is yours? I watch them every day, looking for signs, and I have looked at more chicken pictures that I would care to admit trying to figure it out.....
This is Mr. T. Mr. T is one of the more dominants in the pack, but seems to not be developing any signs of being a boy. I am not really sure which breed either... ideas?
