drying breaking and loss of muscovy feathers

Ahhhhhh fantastic, what a relief! Actually we just started to see new neck feathers on duckface, so we suspected this....such a relief as about 5 of our ducks do indeed look quite terrible right now and I worried that we were feeding them wrongly or something but couldnt think why! Thank you!!!

goose sleeping with neck outstretched...any ideas why?

Her poop seems fine I think tho there was a time when it was a white liquid. I think the likely thing is that she does have something in her throat like plastic or something as although her appetite is great now and shes always hungry, she seema to eat a bit strangely, from the side of her beak...

drying breaking and loss of muscovy feathers

Some of my ducks have started to look a bit ugly as their feathers have lost their sheen and are breaking. Is yhis normal? The thing is that half the ducks are fine looking but the older ones are losing their looks. These also dont want to get in the pond and run away in the rare occasions we...

goose sleeping with neck outstretched...any ideas why?

Thanks for all your advice. We still are none the wiser about whats wrong with lucia...but after 3 antibiotic injections from the vet she seemed to have gained appetite, especially for watermelon! And put on weight. But we realise that she keeps spitting something, like mucus, she nods her head...

Oh thankyou...I hadnt thought of the pesticides and stuff...ill wash it all more carefully from now on. Her poop seems pretty normal, havent spotted any worms, I have a bottle of apple vinegar, which I think is the same thing more or less, what should I do with that? Put a spoonful in her water...

Haha yes it certainly is a long way but my birds keep me sane! She seems generally ok to be honest, I tried her on some meal worm pellets earlier, which she was quite keen to taste but paco wouldnt let her so im not sure if he's helping or hindering. Theyre both keen on cabbage and theyre...

goose sleeping with neck outstretched...any ideas why?

Hi ive seen my lady goose lucia sleeping with her neck on the ground a couple of times lately, rather than tucked behind her in her feathers as she usually does. What can I do? She still usually sleeps normally and doesnt seem to have any other problems, she happily walks around with her head in...

    ducks, turkeys and guinea fowl

And one more for now...here's Duckles on the left with her only surviving baby out of 4 she laid. Tiny Tim is on the right, so called as he was the tiniest of 9 ducks and didn't grow properly, but now he's catching up, while they're all big and strong though, he looks like a miniature version...

guinea fowl eggs are changing size...is this a problem?!

Hi thanks for the links...I'll try giving them some more protein and see if that helps. They're all kept outside in the garden and get regular sunlight (6-6) but protein can be hard. There's no special foods available here so we feed them grain, veg and whatever else we can find.

guinea fowl eggs are changing size...is this a problem?!

Hi I have kept a pair of guinea fowl for 8 months or so and started getting eggs maybe 2 months ago. But recently the eggs have started changing in size. I got a really big one the other day. And yesterday I found a perfectly formed, miniature one. The one in the middle of the photo is normal...
