I have one of the chicken watering containers that wok with vacuum pressure. I can't figure out what I am doing wrong to keep it from just pouring out water instead of slowly trickling. Can someone help me. I feel so dumb!
I live in Western WA where the sun sets at 4:30 in the winter, and it's gloomy most of the days anyway. I am wondering if it's too late in the year for my young chickens to start laying eggs for the first time. They are 6 months old as of yesterday.Any thoughts?
I posted a questi about my chick a couple days ago and nobody seemed to think it was anything to worry about. But, today my 11 week old chick died. I've been taking care of him for a few days because he was unable to support weight on his legs. He was still eating and drinking. I noticed him...
I am new to chicken keeping, and here's a first for me. One of my chicks, who I think is a rooster is limping, not wanting to walk. Usually he runs when I try to pick him up. He's eating and drinking still, and shows no signs of obvious injury. He's been panting a bit, even though it's warm but...

The Feed Store said it's a pullet when we purchased the Ameracauna as a 1 Day old Chick. At 10 weeks old, I'm wondering if we have a rooster on our hands. It's too pretty compared to the other Ameracaunas, We aren't allowed to have roosters in our town so I will be sad to lose this gorgeous bird...
These Dominiques were supposed to both be pullets but I'm not so sure. Hatched 5/8/2014 and purchased from the local feed store, they are almost 10 week . They are both so friendly. I will be sad if we have to give away one. What is the age recommendation of rehoming if a chick isn't the...
I am new to the world of chicken keeping. We live in suburban Western Washington. We adopted 3 Ameracauna (Probably really Easter Eggers) and 2 Dominique chicks in May. They've been so fun to watch grow. We're hoping they all turn out to be females because we can't keep roos in town. Looking...
